With the rapid development of society and the improvement of people's living standards, various smart devices and home appliances have entered our daily lives. Dehumidifiers, as a kind of home appliance, also play an indispensable role in people's lives. But because of this, people cannot ignore the safety issues of products.

Recently, due to concerns that dehumidifiers could overheat and cause fires and burns, the United States has recalled nearly 20 brands of dehumidifiers nationwide, totaling about 2 million units, and warned consumers to immediately stop using these problematic dehumidifiers.

So far, the manufacturer New Widebech has received 107 reports of product overheating (or fire incidents), resulting in property losses of approximately $17 million . Fortunately, no reports of injuries related to the recalled products have been received so far.

According to the recall notice, the recalled dehumidifier batches were sold between February 2009 and August 2017, and were sold in several large retail supermarkets in the United States, including Lowe's, Costco and Walmart, with prices ranging from US$120 to US$430.

In addition, according to preliminary statistics, in addition to the United States, these "dangerous" dehumidifiers have been sold in Canada, 380,000 units, and Mexico, 25,000 units.

Moreover, the recalled products involve several well-known brands, some of which have dehumidifiers sold on large platforms such as Amazon and AliExpress. The picture below shows the brands involved in the recall. Merchants who sell such product models on various platforms are encouraged to check carefully.

In recent years, small household appliances have been very popular overseas. It is estimated that the global market size of small household appliances will reach US$234 billion by 2025. The United States, as a major consumer of household appliances, is also growing rapidly.

According to data released by Statista, the revenue of the small appliance market in the United States is expected to reach US$23.449 billion this year, accounting for half of the annual home appliance market.

The demand for small household appliances in the United States is strong, and many businesses have targeted this business opportunity. However, we still want to remind everyone to pay attention to product safety issues to avoid damaging the rights and interests of consumers and causing greater losses.
