Online shopping trends in Indonesia have increased during Ramadan 2021

In the first week of Ramadan this year , online shopping in Indonesia showed an upward trend, and many e-commerce companies said that the volume of online shopping transactions has increased. Convenient, time-saving and low-price online shopping experience are important reasons that attract many consumers.

The Indonesian E-Commerce Association (IDEA ) released preliminary development data on online shopping trends during the first week of Ramadan this year.

Astrid Warsito, head of IDEA's public communications department, admitted that she obtained data from various e-commerce platforms to understand the trend of online shopping during Ramadan . The results showed that some products have seen a significant increase in sales , such as daily groceries , necessities , Muslim clothing , televisions , and home audio products .

Astrid Warsito said: "Our data includes data and information from most e-commerce data platforms, and the average daily transaction volume during Ramadan has doubled compared to before Ramadan. "

She also described the shopping trends that will be in Harbolnas in December 2020. In 2019, the Indonesian region was shrouded in the epidemic . Against this backdrop, the demand for online shopping increased sharply and the number of new users soared .

It is worth mentioning that for 78% of consumers, free delivery is the most attractive . In addition, discounts can also attract the favor of many users. Surprisingly , vouchers and cash coupons are not very attractive to consumers .

It turns out that millennials are the main force of consumption in the Indonesian market . Data shows that 36% of the respondents are aged 15-24, 34 % are aged 25-34 , and only 19% are aged 35-44 . The rest are consumers over 45 years old , among whom men dominate online shopping.

In addition, in Indonesia, the spending of residents in different regions began to change. Of the 28% increase in total sales, 97% came from outside Java.

Competition is fierce among personal care products, food and beverages, and daily necessities. People prefer local products when buying these products , and the sales volume of local products even reached 5.6 trillion.
