As the US snowstorm hits, Etsy releases hardcore subsidies

Recently, a snowstorm hit the United States, and various cities encountered sub-zero temperatures, which hindered offline retail activities. Data showed that the total retail sales in the United States in February fell by 3% compared with January. After the snowstorm, the United States may usher in a new surge in orders.

 

The Etsy platform also issued an announcement stating that due to the disruption and impact of recent severe weather on sellers, sellers can apply for grant subsidies from Etsy in cooperation with CERF+ (a humanitarian emergency fund established by the United Nations).

 

However, the grant subsidy from Etsy and CERF+ also requires sellers to meet the relevant qualifications of the grant: Etsy sellers who have experienced a federally declared natural disaster in the past year; have been operating and active on the Etsy platform for at least one year; and have a good account operation status and record on the Etsy platform. Only sellers who meet these conditions can apply for the subsidy.

 

CERF+ is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping artist camps during emergencies and disasters to aid the recovery of their businesses. Since 2017 , CERF+ has been working with the Etsy platform to provide grants to some eligible Etsy sellers in need of support.

 

Etsy said it hopes to help Etsy sellers recover from disasters through these efforts. Sellers who have recently suffered heavy losses due to severe weather in Oklahoma and Louisiana can apply for grants in a timely manner.

 

Data shows that Etsy's performance this year is very impressive. In addition to gaining 61 million new users, its GMS has also reached 10.3 billion US dollars. Due to the epidemic, the mask trend has brought new development opportunities to its platform, driving the growth of its annual sales. Its stock price also soared by 300% in 2020. It has to be said that Etsy is a beneficiary of the epidemic economy.

 

At the same time, the Etsy platform has lived up to expectations and continuously added new product categories and attributes to improve product matching and relevance, helping sellers and the platform to better integrate. In addition, the Etsy platform has also expanded its marketing to various channels to achieve the goal of comprehensive marketing coverage.

 

In fact, the strategies and policies of a platform will affect the entry of sellers and the shopping experience of buyers. If a platform wants to develop continuously, it must continuously improve its core competitiveness.
