According to a new report from Vogue Polska and BCG’s Warsaw office, 75% of Polish consumers consider sustainability to be an important factor influencing their purchasing decisions.
The survey report shows that more than 66% of respondents are willing to pay higher prices for sustainable products, but the report points out that this may not necessarily translate into specific personal actions in real life . If the price rises by 20% , 62% of Poles said they would give up buying sustainable products.
38% of Poles plan to buy more second-hand clothes after the coronavirus pandemic ends . In addition, 20% -30 % of Poles find it difficult to accurately define sustainable products .
According to the report, the topic of sustainability affects not only online shopping, but all aspects of Polish life : 61% of respondents said they use less disposable packaging, 43% use bicycles and public transport when travelling , and 31% say they consume less meat.
Despite this, 25% of respondents are still uninterested or skeptical about buying sustainable clothing. Among those who do not advocate sustainable shopping methods , 69 % believe that it is unnecessary to attach global ecological problems to individuals , and 42 % have doubts about whether sustainable products are morally kidnapped and whether they have other side effects on the environment.
In addition, 21% of people believe that the range of sustainable products is too limited compared to conventional products , and 20% of respondents said that sustainable products are too expensive.
The most shocking survey result is that when sustainable clothing and ordinary clothing are priced the same , 26% of consumers said they would not consider buying sustainable clothing at all due to concerns about the quality of sustainable clothing .
It is reported that Poland is the fastest growing economy in Europe, with a continuously increasing consumption purchase rate . Although its e-commerce penetration rate is not as high as that of neighboring countries such as Germany and France, its e-commerce market is growing at the fastest rate, at about 19% , with huge room for growth. In 2020 alone, the size of Poland's e-commerce market was close to US$20 billion .
