Sellers beware: Google is shutting down its mobile shopping app

According to foreign media reports, Google is shutting down its mobile shopping app. What exactly is going on? Let's find out with the editor!

Recently, XDA Developers discovered the word "sunset " in several strings of code in the Shopping app , which indicated that the app was being decommissioned . Later, Google confirmed to 9to5 Google that it will shut down its Shopping app on iOS and Android at the end of June and direct users to visit its shopping website.

The Shopping app allows users to choose from thousands of online stores and make purchases using their Google accounts.

A Google spokesperson said : "In the coming weeks, we will no longer support the Shopping app. All the features that the app provided to users can be found in the Shopping section of Google.com . "

A Google spokesperson also said that in the future, Google will continue to build these features into shopping channels and other Google interfaces, including Google official apps. At the same time, the shopping website shopping.google.com will continue to remain active .

The editor checked shopping.google.com and found that the products displayed on the website cover multiple categories such as electronics, home furnishings, restaurants, toys, handicrafts & hobbies, kitchen utensils, bedding & bath products , etc.

Last month, Google also launched a micro-shopping site, Best things for everything, which lists the top 1,000 products on the Internet.

Although Google said that the Shopping app can continue to work until June, some users have reported seeing error notifications saying " something went wrong " ( as shown below ) . This is also a reminder for sellers who use the app to start making other plans.

In response to this, some netizens lamented that the biggest risk of using Google apps is that you don't know when it will be shut down. From the website https://killedbygoogle.com/, you can also find a list of products that have been disabled by Google, such as Google Reader, Google Cloud Print, Google Cardboard , etc.

Platform sellers need to pay attention to the policy adjustments of the platform at all times, and sellers who have a presence on Google are no exception. Sellers should pay more attention to changes in Google and make adjustments in a timely manner.
