T&T launches new app, grocery e-commerce becomes a potential market in Canada

T&T Supermarket is a Canadian supermarket chain that mainly sells Greater China and Asian food. Recently, the supermarket launched a new app in Canada to give shoppers enough product choices .

It is understood that more than 10,000 products are listed in the T&T online store, including 250 food and household T&T brand products . Tina Lee, CEO of T&T Supermarket, told Canadian Grocer: "As the pandemic progresses, people are getting more and more bored with their cooking and are looking for something different. They want to have more fun with cooking, and T&T online is a great place to explore new ingredients."

With the new T&T app, customers can stay up to date with the latest deals , new product launches and weekly specials . In addition, T&T automatically adds online coupons to customers ' accounts .

T&T e-commerce director Jennifer Mei said: " The app will also offer multiple payment methods such as WeChat Pay and Alipay as well as real-time online chat services to ensure the smoothest online shopping experience. "

As Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain, T&T is known for stocking fresh and frozen products to help shoppers enjoy Asian cuisine to the fullest. In addition, through the new app, T&T offers express delivery services, so customers can place orders online and have the products delivered to their homes the next day .

Online grocery sales have incredible growth potential. Canadian consumers are clearly showing an interest in buying groceries online , a trend that was already gaining traction before the pandemic.

The move comes after a Canada Post study showed that a quarter of Canadian shoppers are either currently or are strongly considering ordering groceries online for delivery. Of those shoppers, 86 per cent would like their groceries delivered straight to their door.

According to Retail Insider , the Canadian grocery industry will see major changes in 2021 and beyond. Nielsen data shows that online grocery sales in Canada accounted for 3.3% of all sales in 2020, compared to 1.7% in 2019. Despite the impact of this digital lockdown , the shift in consumer behavior and purchasing preferences is likely to continue beyond the pandemic .

In summary, consumers' interest in purchasing groceries online is growing. This trend will accelerate the e-commerce process of Canadian grocery stores , and Canadian grocery e-commerce will usher in a period of rapid development .
