eBay launches new feature that lets you create new listings in half the time

As one of the world's most popular e-commerce platforms for collectors, investors and scalpers, eBay is also one of the best places in the world to buy and sell trading cards, but eBay's ambitions may be bigger than we think.

eBay has launched a new feature that makes listing collectible cards easier than ever before. Starting in late April, sellers will be able to use eBay’s iOS and Android mobile apps to scan trading cards and create listings in half the time it used to .

The new sales tool will support Magic the Gathering cards at launch , and will gradually expand to Pokemon cards and Yu-Gi-Oh! and will be followed by sports trading cards and other collectible card games in May of this year.

“Demand for trading cards has been unparalleled over the past year with 185 million shoppers worldwide, up 4 million from the previous year,” said Nicole Colombo, head of trading cards and collectibles at eBay. “We’re actively listening to our growing community to invest in new enhancements, including leveraging computer vision technology and building a robust trading card catalog.”

Sellers can use eBay’s new picture listing feature by following these steps:

1. Open or download the eBay app on your iOS or Android mobile device or tablet. Start creating a listing by typing the name of the game in the search bar (e.g., “Magic the Gathering”). When prompted, select “Tap to search with camera.”

2. Point the camera at the memory card and hold to scan the image of the memory card. A list of possible matches will pop up, showing details including game name , card title , deck , card number , rarity , card type , power, and more.

3. Click the correct (or closest) match to pre-populate your listing with all your card details .

4. Add photos or card condition , price and shipping to complete the listing .

In addition, the media also revealed the most popular trading card categories on eBay, which are: Pokémon trading cards, basketball trading cards, baseball trading cards, magic trading cards, football trading cards...

In the United States, the number of transaction cards in each state is also growing at an astonishing rate. Montana, Oregon, Florida, California, Nevada, and Minnesota have all grown by more than 300%, and New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Vermont have all grown by more than 200%. Among them, Vermont, which has the least growth, has a growth rate of 270%.
