Udaan's lifestyle and fashion categories have received over 2.6 million orders, and these products are the most popular among Indians...

Indian B2B e-commerce giant Udaan said on Sunday that in 2020, about 100,000 businesses (wholesalers) were added to the lifestyle and fashion category on the platform , of which more than 230 million products were wholesaled, and more than 250 sellers under this category achieved sales of 1 crore rupees.

 

Udaan's lifestyle and fashion business includes clothing, accessories, and footwear . As of now, Udaan has about 200,000 companies under the lifestyle and fashion category . In 2020, more than 2.6 million orders for lifestyle and fashion categories were delivered on the platform .

 

The home isolation and home office and study caused by the epidemic have promoted the sales growth of casual wear on the Udaan platform. The platform sold 10 million casual products and slippers in 900 cities in India , and sold approximately 9 million T-shirts, 4 million shirts and 3 million kurtis ( a type of Indian women's clothing ) .

In addition, more than 3.5 million socks were sold on the platform , and Udaan sold 25 million protective masks in the first eight months of the epidemic .


Founded in 2016, Udaan is one of India's largest B2B e-commerce platforms. As a comprehensive e-commerce platform, it has more than 3 million products on the platform , covering multiple categories such as lifestyle , electronics , home and kitchen , staple foods , fruits and vegetables , fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals , toys and daily necessities .


According to reports, the lifestyle category contributes 10-12% of Udaan's gross merchandise value (GMV). Although the company does not disclose its GMV figures, a report by Bernstein ( investment management and research company ) stated that Udaan's GMV was approximately $2.1 billion ARR (annual recurring revenue) in December 2020 .


Udaan's initial target audience was low- and middle-income people, and the platform was mainly open to small and medium-sized enterprises and merchants. However, as revenue grew, the platform was no longer satisfied with the status quo and began to gradually expand its business. Currently, the platform has established cooperative relationships with many large manufacturers and brands such as Adidas, Reebok, and Puma.

 

2020 is a year of rapid development for India's e-commerce industry. Many Indian e-commerce platforms have achieved explosive growth, and Udaan is no exception. Sellers who are interested in entering the Indian market can pay more attention to it.
