FAQ

Q: What are the requirements for launching a Kickstarter project?

A: Unlike Indiegogo, Kickstarter has some rigid requirements for project launches, among which the most frequently asked questions are the launch location and project verifier. Currently, Kickstarter supports project launches in 18 countries and regions, click here for the list, and you also need to provide the identity information of a permanent resident of the launch location for project verification.

Q: How much do Kickstarter and Indiegogo charge?

A: Kickstarter has only one form of crowdfunding, that is, the initiator can receive the payment if the crowdfunding goal is reached 100%, otherwise the funds will be returned to the backer if the project fails. The platform fee is 5%, and the platform uses Stripe as a payment gateway, which costs 3.3% + 0.33. The platform fee and the collection fee will be deducted from the settlement amount and directly transferred to the initiator.

Indiegogo has two forms of crowdfunding. One is the same model as Kickstarter, with the same fees. The other is a flexible fundraising target. In this case, even if the fundraising amount does not reach the initiator's goal, Indiegogo will transfer the raised funds to the initiator, but in this case the platform fee will increase from 5% to 8%.

Q: If the company is based in mainland China, can it launch a Kickstarter project in Hong Kong?

A: Any company can be launched as long as there is a place of launch. For example, launching in the United States requires an American company, and launching in Hong Kong requires a Hong Kong company. However, no matter where it is launched, the identity information of the local permanent resident is required for project verification.

Q: How long will it take to receive the payment after the crowdfunding ends?

A: Kickstarter will deduct the platform fee and collection fee after 14 days and transfer the remaining amount in one lump sum.

After 14 days, Indiegogo will deduct the platform fee and collection fee, and also withhold a certain percentage of the shipping deposit before transferring the remaining amount in one lump sum.
