On May 14, Alibaba released its Q4 and full-year results for fiscal year 2024. The financial report shows that Alibaba's overseas e-commerce continues to grow rapidly. This quarter, Alibaba's overseas e-commerce revenue increased by 45% year-on-year, exceeding market expectations for seven consecutive quarters. The financial report shows that the performance of Alibaba's overseas e-commerce is mainly driven by the growth of cross-border business, especially the Choice business of the AliExpress platform. This quarter, the synergy between AliExpress and Cainiao in cross-border logistics further strengthened its competitiveness. The 5-day and 10-day delivery rates of cross-border parcels doubled year-on-year. The competitive product prices and delivery speed of Choice drove the continued strong growth of AliExpress orders. In April 2024, Choice orders accounted for more than 70% of AliExpress's total orders. In March last year, AliExpress launched Choice overseas based on the managed model. Both fully managed and semi-managed products can be marked with the Choice logo and enjoy Choice traffic. This quarter, AliExpress increased its investment in key countries to continue to improve user experience, expand consumer coverage and strengthen its market position. Public information shows that recently, AliExpress became the first e-commerce sponsor of the European Cup, Tang Wei became the latest spokesperson for AliExpress Korea, and famous Saudi football stars Salem Al-Dawsari and Feras Al Brikan became the spokespersons for AliExpress in the Middle East. On the supply side, AliExpress has also taken frequent actions this year to help merchants grow their business. After full trusteeship, AliExpress launched semi-trusteeship services in February this year. In just one month, more than 20,000 merchants saw their orders increase by more than 100%. This momentum is still continuing, and AliExpress merchants have expanded their warehouses and buildings to cope with the surge in orders. In April, AliExpress launched the “10 billion subsidy for brands going global” plan. Merchants can join AliExpress with one click and sell their products simultaneously on multiple e-commerce channels under Alibaba International, including Lazada, Miravia, Daraz, and Trendyol, covering key global markets such as Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. In addition, an insider of AliExpress stated that in May, AliExpress will also launch a super outbreak day, which will gather traffic and resources to provide merchants with more certain order outbreaks in a simpler way.
