A Jiangxi boss switched from domestic trade to foreign trade in just one year and exported raincoats to Alibaba International Station with annual sales of nearly 10 million

"My biggest achievement at Alibaba International Station in the past year is that I have completed transactions with more than 300 customers , with sales of nearly 10 million yuan. At the same time, I have accumulated more than 6,000 potential customers , which are expected to continue to bring in more revenue in 2024. " Speaking of this year at the International Station, Wang Zhong, general manager of Jiangxi Little Dinosaur Rainproof Products, has doubled his confidence .

Before exporting rain gear through Alibaba International Station, Wang Zhong started his business in the rain gear industry with family resources in 2020 , making fashionable children's raincoats made of EVA materials . At first, he was in the domestic market, but prices in the domestic market were involuted, and the profit margin dropped from the previous 15%-25% to less than 5%. This forced him to think about new ways out, and going overseas became a better choice. After doing foreign trade, Wang Zhong regained his lost profit margin. In addition to some drainage models, Wang Zhong can currently maintain a profit of more than 20% for more than 80% of overseas orders . For some orders with more complex customization requirements, the profit can be increased by another 5 %-10% .

 

Wang Zhong came into contact with Alibaba International Station by chance in the first half of 2022. With the agile thinking of a businessman, Wang Zhong instinctively thought that this was an opportunity for a breakthrough . Through in-depth investigation, study and communication, he found that some bosses with ordinary qualifications, who mastered the operation methods of cross-border e-commerce, could actually do well. This made Wang Zhong more convinced to layout cross-border e-commerce , and he settled in Alibaba International Station in September 2022. At the same time, public data also show that the export volume and amount of rain gear in China account for about 80% of the world's total.

From a foreign trade novice who didn't know English, to being able to fully utilize the digital tools of the international site to select and expand products, and with annual sales of tens of millions. Wang Zhong admitted that he had taken some operational detours in the process, but since he was determined to build an international site, he painstakingly studied the operation methods and achieved "staying open during the Spring Festival."

 

During the Spring Festival last year, Wang Zhong took orders online. Wang Zhong believes that during the Spring Festival, employees and colleagues are on holiday. As a boss who has just entered the foreign trade industry, he should make good use of the golden period of the Spring Festival, because it is more competitive in the market. It was also during this special time of the Spring Festival that Wang Zhong received several important customers. One of the Canadian customers placed a sample order during the Spring Festival, and then placed an order for 2,100 raincoats; an American customer placed a sample order, and then continued to receive return orders.

 

Through Alibaba International Station, Wang Zhong opened up his mind. "At the beginning, we wanted to sell raincoats in our own factory, but now 90% of our products are not produced by ourselves. It is equivalent to us changing from a pure factory to an integrated industry and trade company. "

 

Wang Zhong believes that as long as the products are popular on Alibaba International Station and are relevant to his categories , such as umbrellas, raincoats, rain boots, and rain boots, he can sell them. By determining production based on sales, operating multiple categories, and exploring niche markets with low competition and high profits, Wang Zhong has benefited greatly from the digitalization of foreign trade.

 

At present, Wang Zhong has registered two trademarks, Little Dinosaur and On the way, in the U.S. He is busy expanding the diversified product chain on Alibaba International Station . In the next step, he also plans to expand new products such as rainproof jackets and outdoor tents .
