Violation of regulations! A product on the Amazon platform was urgently recalled

Recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC) announced a recall of the "Honey Joy Baby Swing" sold on Amazon because it violated the country's "Infant Safe Sleep Act" enacted last year.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled baby swings pose a safety risk to infants and young children. The brand's advertisements claim that the product is for infant sleep, but in fact, the tilt angle is greater than 10 degrees. Babies may fall from the top or side when sleeping because there is no safety protection, or they may turn over and face down, causing suffocation risks, posing a safety risk to babies, and thus violating the requirements of the Infant Safe Sleep Act.

According to the announcement of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, these baby swings were sold on Amazon from November 2022 to January 2023. This recall involves a total of 170 products, including two models, gray BB5569US-GR and beige BB5569US-BE. The swings are made of metal and plastic and are made in China. The swings have a cloth seat and are about 28 inches wide, 28 inches high and 24 inches wide. No accidents or injuries have been reported so far.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reminds consumers who have purchased this product to stop using it immediately and contact Honey Joy for a refund.

According to a previous report by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, an average of approximately 3,400 infants under the age of 12 months die suddenly and unexpectedly while sleeping each year.

In order to protect the safety of children, the country has enacted the Infant Safe Sleep Act, which explicitly prohibits companies from manufacturing or selling Inclined Sleepers for Infants and some types of Crib Bumpers with a sleeping surface tilted more than 10 degrees. According to data from Consumer Reports, these two products have caused the deaths of more than 200 infants.

The act provides necessary regulation for infant sleep products. Previously, although infant swings, like cribs and cradles, are used to put infants to sleep, they were not subject to the same regulation as those products.

It is recommended that sellers of relevant categories check their products in accordance with the Act to avoid similar situations.
