Amazon and JETRO join forces to help Japanese SMEs develop e-commerce

Recently, according to foreign media reports, Amazon Japan held Amazon's largest e-commerce event for small and medium-sized enterprises and e-commerce companies with the theme of "Accelerating Japanese business through digital transformation (DX)". The two-day lecture mainly talked about issues related to logistics operations and brand building.

According to survey data, the main problems faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in Japan today are the narrowness of cross-border e-commerce sales channels, the difficulty of promoting digital transformation (DX) in physical enterprises, and the language barriers of cross-border trade. According to a survey conducted by JETRO , only 34.3% of Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises that are interested in overseas business have experience in domestic and foreign EC sales channels.

Amazon and JETRO said they will strongly support the cross-border e-commerce marketing business of Japanese SMEs. Using the huge overseas market of the Amazon platform and the participation of the government agency JETRO, they will provide development impetus for Japanese SMEs and increase the overseas sales of companies selling high-quality products through JAPAN STORE. JETRO pointed out that the products are mainly planned by Japanese companies and will be sold under the name of "JAPAN".

In addition, Amazon said it will also provide one-on-one support services for Japanese SMEs . Amazon will provide Japanese SMEs with dedicated sales representatives to solve problems in the process of foreign sales such as account creation, product registration, FBA support, overseas remittances and overseas transportation . Amazon said that in addition to helping Japanese SMEs solve daily sales problems, it will also hold webinars to help Japanese SMEs understand the consumption trends of American consumers and the basics of cross-border e-commerce, and strongly support Japanese SMEs to accelerate the development of cross-border e-commerce.

It is worth mentioning that JAPAN STORE is expected to launch the "Basic Plan", which helps Japanese SMEs selling on Amazon.com to promote by posting banners and eDM (email direct mail) on the homepage of Amazon.com . Japanese SME owners can apply for the JAPAN STORE "Basic Plan" before March 2022 .
