Helping Chinese sellers! US e-commerce platform Tophatter and China Post reach cooperation

Recently, China Post Guangdong Branch and the US e-commerce platform Tophatter reached a cooperation. Guangdong Post will provide Tophatter sellers with logistics services that meet the platform standards.

The editor learned that Tophatter is an e-commerce platform focusing on mobile auction shopping. Its biggest feature is its original 90-second limited-time auction sales model.

On eBay, the shortest auction period is 24 hours, and many auctions last for 30 days; while on Tophatter, auctions last an average of only 90 seconds.

Currently, the platform’s hot-selling categories include jewelry, home furnishings, electronics, clothing, and beauty products.

In 2020, Tophatter processed an average of 150,000 orders per day, had 35 million users in 14 countries, and achieved a growth rate of more than 100% for four consecutive years.

In recent years, many Chinese sellers have also noticed this platform, and in 2018, to facilitate browsing by Chinese users, Tophatter launched a Chinese seller center.

Tophatter mainly delivers goods offline, and provides multiple approved logistics channels for buyers to choose from. In addition to the above-mentioned cooperative logistics providers such as China Post, the platform has recently added the FBA channel. Sellers only need to set the delivery address of the platform order to FBA delivery, and the platform will recognize and automatically track the delivery track.

For most cross-border sellers, when it comes to e-commerce platforms, Amazon and eBay may come to mind subconsciously. This makes sense, after all, these platforms are "safe cards." But it is important to know that although these two giants occupy the largest share of the cross-border e-commerce market, they are far from the only options. Some niche, vertical e-commerce platforms also have their advantages.

In addition to Tophatter, there are many niche e-commerce platforms, such as Wayfair, a North American e-commerce platform focusing on the vertical category of home furniture. Data shows that Wayfair's revenue in the first quarter of 2021 was US$3.5 billion, a 50% increase from the first quarter of last year. In the past two years, Wayfair has begun to attract Chinese sellers. In addition, in recent years, the e-commerce platform that has attracted Chinese investment also includes Allegro, the largest mainstream e-commerce platform in Poland.

In the eyes of these e-commerce platforms, the power of Chinese sellers cannot be underestimated, and Chinese products are relatively cost-effective. However, it should be noted that when sellers choose to enter a platform, they should understand and identify it and choose a platform that suits them.
