An MSC cargo ship was found to have an outbreak near Chile and was quarantined!

Shipping is busy at the moment, with a constant stream of ships shuttling across the ocean, but the global epidemic is not over yet, and container ships docked at ports in many countries may have patients infected with the new coronavirus if they are not careful. It is understood that on September 21, an MSC cargo ship was required by the port to be quarantined for 15 days after arriving at the Callao anchorage in Chile because a seafarer on the ship tested positive for the virus.

The quarantined container ship is the 12,500teu MSC Lauren, which had docked at several ports in the half month before the quarantine: from September 4 to 7, Beijing time, it docked at the Port of Manzanillo in Mexico; from 17:08 on September 7 to 1:00 on September 8, it docked at the Port of Lazaro Cardenas in Mexico; from 00:00 to 21:00 on September 12, Beijing time, it docked at the Panama Canal Port; from 22:00 on September 12 to 19:00 on September 13, it docked at the Port of Balboa in Panama;

It docked at the port of Buenaventura in Colombia from 10 p.m. on September 14 to 11 p.m. on September 15, and at the port of Callao in Peru at 8 p.m. on September 18. The ship sails under the Panamanian flag and has been sailing between Asia and the west coast of Latin America.

According to MSC, all cargo will remain on board until the quarantine period ends, and all customers who have loaded cargo on board have been notified. The global supply chain is broken, the cargo volume is large, and the sea transportation is busy. Here we remind all freight forwarders and cargo ship sailing personnel to take good protection when the ship is sailing and loading and unloading at the port.

At the beginning of this month, an outbreak occurred on a cargo ship that frequently travels on the short-sea routes between Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia and calls at several major ports in Asia. Now another cargo ship outbreak has occurred, which shows that epidemic prevention cannot be neglected. The current global epidemic is not over yet, especially for shipping ships shuttling between countries. We must strengthen prevention and take epidemic prevention measures!
