Extreme weather is frequent! Tropical Storm Nicholas approaches the southern coast of the United States

The National Hurricane Center said that Tropical Storm Nicholas was moving north at a speed of 60 miles per hour in the waters near the southern coast of Texas on Monday. The center of the storm will pass through or near Texas and may develop into a hurricane before making landfall.

The U.S. Meteorological Department has warned that Tropical Storm Nicholas will bring heavy rains and potential floods to parts of the U.S. Gulf Coast . It is expected that the coastal areas of Texas will have a large-scale rainfall of 5 to 10 inches, with local areas reaching 15 inches and some remote areas reaching 20 inches. Large-scale heavy rainfall and flooding will have a serious impact on Texas and surrounding cities and ports .

Houston is located in Texas. It is the largest city in the southeastern United States, the largest oil industry center and the third largest port in the United States. In response to this storm, the U.S. Coast Guard stated that the Port of Corpus Christi may be hit by hurricane-level winds around September 15 , and shippers shipping oil out of the Texas coast have also received hurricane-level strong wind warnings.

Nicholas is the second hurricane this month to threaten energy facilities along the U.S. Gulf Coast. Hurricane Ida caused severe damage to oil production and refining facilities in late August and early September .

Not only oil facilities and ports, but also many cities and regions in the Gulf of Mexico are facing severe threats of heavy rain and flooding. It is understood that flash flood warnings have been issued in coastal areas of Texas (including Houston and Corpus Christi) and southwestern Louisiana (including Lake Charles). Louisiana has declared a state of emergency today, and a spokesman said that even if the storm lands in southern Texas earlier , it is likely to cause widespread flash floods . Several schools in the Houston and Galveston areas have been closed due to the storm.

This summer, extreme disasters have occurred frequently in the United States, with raging wildfires and frequent hurricanes. The recent Hurricane Ida has had a serious impact on many American citizens. A large number of American people’s houses have been destroyed and their lives have become difficult. The White House even "called on" Congress to allocate $24 billion for disaster relief.

Sellers are reminded that in view of the frequent extreme disasters in the United States, please pay close attention to the weather and road traffic conditions in relevant areas, and communicate with buyers in a timely and patient manner to avoid delivery delays due to weather reasons, which may lead to complaints and negative reviews from buyers.
