A post in a Facebook group reportedly showed several boxes containing the product, all of which had Temu's classic orange appearance.
The post reads: After Temu entered the US market, in order to attract more consumers, it specially launched this event to give everyone benefits. For only one US dollar, you can buy a surprise gift box containing random goods. It is better to act than to be tempted. Hurry up and participate!
Below the post, there is a "Learn More" button, which will jump to another page when clicked.
In just nine days, this post was reposted more than 300 times, reaching thousands of people.
However, after investigation by relevant agencies, it was found that this post was obviously a scam and the link in it had nothing to do with Temu.
According to the agency, there is no evidence that the e-commerce company ( Temu) is willing to provide a full box of goods to American consumers for $1. There have been no reliable news reports about the deal, and there is no information about the deal on the company's website.
Therefore, this Facebook post actually directed users to a website that has nothing to do with Temu. According to a netizen, after clicking on this website, they will be asked to answer a few questions, and then they need to fill in their address information and credit card information before they can place an order to buy the so-called $1 "blind box".
There are many signs that the site is a scam. For example, the URL of the site does not match the URL of Temu's official website. In addition, the icons on the site that should be clickable are not clickable.
In addition, once users complete all the steps to purchase the blind box, the website will redirect them to another third-party website and ask them to enter their credit card information.
While Temu does have blind box promotions, the only thing consumers have to do is choose the blind box they want on Temu, add it to their shopping cart, and then purchase it.
