Trade grew by 38.2%, and China-ASEAN e-commerce accelerated its development

According to Xinhua News Agency, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN dialogue relations. Bilateral economic and trade relations have become increasingly close, and cross-border e-commerce has become a new engine to drive the development of trade between China and ASEAN.

With the deepening of economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN, the Southeast Asian market has attracted extensive attention from domestic sellers. At present, more and more companies and individuals are joining the field of cross-border e-commerce. In recent years, the e-commerce platform Lazada has provided channels for many brands and merchants to enter the markets of ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam with the help of advanced digital infrastructure.

Data shows that in the first half of this year, China -ASEAN trade volume exceeded US$410 billion, a year-on-year increase of 38.2%. ASEAN remains China's largest trading partner, and the total accumulated investment between the two sides has exceeded US$310 billion.

Guangxi, as the forefront of China's opening-up and cooperation with ASEAN, has accelerated its development. Nanning and Chongzuo were approved as national cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones, and Qinzhou was approved as a pilot city for cross-border e-commerce retail imports. Statistics show that in the first half of this year, the cross-border e-commerce import and export transaction volume of the Guangxi Free Trade Pilot Zone (Nanning and Chongzuo) exceeded 3.4 billion yuan.

Against the backdrop of the booming China -ASEAN e-commerce cooperation, some cross-border business-related supporting industries are also accelerating their development. Some companies have taken a different approach and instead of participating in e-commerce sales, they have engaged in cross-border e-commerce supporting services such as warehousing, storage, and logistics distribution on e-commerce platforms, and have achieved success in the context of the epidemic. They have not only provided more options for the diversification of corporate development, but also received strong support from the country.

The deepening of China -ASEAN bilateral trade cooperation is undoubtedly a shot in the arm for sellers. Under the call of national policies, a large number of sellers will enter the Southeast Asian market, bringing new business opportunities to the Southeast Asian market. In addition, it is believed that the two governments will also introduce corresponding trade policies to provide more convenient trade conditions for cross-border e-commerce sellers. In the future, the Southeast Asian market will continue to develop at a faster pace.
