Bathing a baby is a relatively troublesome issue. Not only do they move around a lot, but they are also prone to crying. It is not easy to bathe a baby without any worries. Therefore, baby bath seats are very popular.
The recalled baby seats are blue in color, with patterns such as clouds, lions and sun printed on the front armrests. There are four suction cups at the bottom. When using, just put it in the bathtub, then place and lock the suction cups, so you don't have to worry about the baby moving around during the bath. It is suitable for children aged 6 to 12 months.
The recall was due to noncompliance with federal safety standards for bath seats, including overall stability and leg opening requirements, which could cause the seats to tip over during use, posing a drowning hazard to infants. No injuries have been reported so far.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that consumers immediately stop using the recalled infant bath seats and contact the seller for a free return and a full refund.
This model was sold exclusively on Amazon from March to April 2021, and the price was about $40. Currently, this chair can no longer be found in the store. However, the editor found that other stores have the same model for sale, except for the size difference, and the other descriptions are the same. In the comments, a buyer left a message saying that the bottom suction cup broke off after a short period of use, which shows signs of quality problems.
In addition, there are many similar seats on sale on the Amazon platform, so relevant sellers should pay attention.
This is not the first time that baby bath seats have been recalled. In April this year, the CPSC also recalled similar foldable seats due to the risk of drowning.
According to local standards, baby bath seats must first meet the following requirements: have a crotch restraint to prevent children from slipping off the seat; the lead content of the paint material cannot exceed 0.009%; and anti-slip stability tests must be done to ensure that it will not tip over. Therefore, sellers must conduct relevant safety standard investigations when making similar products.
Regardless of the category, safety issues should be put first, especially for infants. Even a small problem can be fatal to infants. Recently, various infant products have been recalled. Sellers of children's products should take this as a warning and conduct strict inspections on related products. Amazon recall |
