The top 10 most popular apps in Indonesia are released, with Shopee ranking fourth

The report shows that the ten apps are WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Shopee, Facebook Messenger, Tokopedia, Gojek, Telegram, MyTelkomsel and Line.

Facebook took the top three spots, followed by WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, while Facebook Messenger ranked fifth.

In terms of e-commerce apps, Shopee ranked fourth and Tokopedia ranked sixth, but Lazada did not appear in the top ten rankings.

In addition, in terms of the most downloaded applications, Tiktok from China's ByteDance ranked first, followed by Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.

This also reveals, to some extent, the reason why Tiktok started testing e-commerce projects in Indonesia.

With the rapid development of the e-commerce industry in Southeast Asia, major e-commerce platforms have continued to make efforts since the outbreak of the epidemic to seize consumer demand and quickly seize the online market.

Hot-selling categories such as home furnishings, electronics, and beauty have always been popular among consumers, especially electronic 3C products, which always occupy the best-selling list on Shopee and Lazada .

Smartphone manufacturers have not stopped releasing products during the pandemic , and they seem to be competing to bring the latest phones to Indonesia.

So which mobile phone brands have successfully captured the Indonesian smartphone market during the 2020 pandemic ?

Xiaomi and Realme are leading online smartphone sales in Indonesia amid the pandemic, according to a report by Counterpoint Research. Meanwhile, Vivo and Oppo dominate overall sales, according to a study by IDC Indonesia.

Data shows that smartphone sales in Indonesia increased throughout the year , especially in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Among them, Lazada is the website with the highest smartphone sales, while Shopee ranks second , with Blibli , Akulaku , Bukalapak and D.id accounting for smaller proportions.

Notably, smartphone sales rebounded at the end of the year after declining in the first two quarters, up 23% year-on-year.

Smartphone shipments soared in the fourth quarter, growing 19% year-on-year to 11.7 million units from July to December. A total of 36.8 million phones were sold in 2020, up 1% year-on-year from 2019.
