As the UK further lifts its lockdown, more than 40% of young people want to buy holiday clothes!

On Monday, March 29 , the UK is about to end home isolation and people will be able to meet or gather with up to six people again.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Johnson announced a roadmap in Parliament, planning to gradually relax the existing epidemic prevention and control measures in England in four steps: the first step is to resume classes in all schools from March 8; outdoor gatherings of 6 people or two households will be allowed at the end of March, and outdoor sports facilities will be reopened; the second step is to allow non-essential retail stores, barber shops, public libraries, zoos, etc. to reopen in mid-April; the third step is to lift most restrictions on outdoor social activities in mid-May, reopen cinemas, and some indoor sports events and performances can be held; the fourth step is that all epidemic prevention measures restricting social contact are expected to be removed by the end of June. In addition to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will also gradually relax epidemic prevention restrictions according to their respective plans.

Consumer spending is set to surge as shoppers begin updating their summer wardrobes, according to new research from Ebay Ads UK , with more than one in five shoppers saying they plan to prioritise buying new clothes once lockdown is lifted , and another one in five saying they have more disposable income to spend than before lockdown .

After the first quarantine ended on June 27, 2020 , searches for skinny jeans surged 47%, while hoop earrings and false eyelashes rose 27% and 24% respectively.

More than one-fifth of young people aged 16 to 24 and those aged 55 and above said they would go to entertainment venues for consumption after the epidemic is over . This trend is expected to further boost consumer demand for clothing.

Vacationing is also one of the choices for consumers after the quarantine is lifted. 16 % of consumers aged 16-24 said they plan to buy clothes for vacation after the quarantine is lifted, and 25% of young people aged 25-34 plan to buy vacation clothes !

Harmony Murphy, General Manager of Advertising at Ebay UK , said: “As the lockdown is lifted, Brits are eager to start living their lives to the fullest. To meet this demand, brands need to ensure they are bringing products and content to consumers’ attention before the critical moment . To achieve this , brands need to use the latest data to ensure they are engaging with consumers in a timely manner .

The end of the UK quarantine will not only benefit offline retailers, but online sellers can also observe consumer needs and provide targeted products. Sellers can pay more attention to holiday items and fashion apparel, enrich categories and styles, and try to shorten delivery time to improve consumer satisfaction with online shopping.
