eBay reselling is booming, with more sellers turning to this business opportunity

Since the UK lockdown, the latest report data from eBay e-commerce platform shows that 67% of UK sellers say that the second-hand goods they sell are popular with consumers.

According to website data, there are an average of 31 unused items worth more than 800 pounds in the average British household . Since 2020, there has been a boom in British households dealing with unused items.

According to the survey results of the eBay C2C Seller Global E-commerce Report, the British have a positive attitude towards the resale of second-hand goods on e-commerce platforms. With the booming e-commerce market, more and more people are joining e-commerce platforms, acting as consumers and sellers at the same time. According to data from e-commerce platforms, buying and selling second-hand goods has become the first choice for many people.

The latest survey shows that the most popular second-hand products among British sellers include second-hand fashion, refurbished electronics, and upgraded home furnishings.

In the entire European market, the growth of the UK e-commerce market is in a leading position. 62% of British consumers said that they sell more second-hand goods, and 32% of British sellers also said that the booming online shopping market in 2020 has made the buying and selling environment positive, which is also the main reason why more and more people decide to get involved in the resale market. Among the consumer groups that are keen on buying resale goods, young people aged 16-24 account for 81% of the total.

The entire European consumer market has seen new changes since the outbreak. Due to the increasing personal financial pressure, Europeans are more willing to try second-hand goods that are both economical and environmentally friendly, and are also willing to participate in the sale of second-hand goods. 81% of British e-commerce platform sellers said they had purchased second-hand goods, while the figure for Germany was 79% and France was 69%.

As the circular economy develops, products are also focused on extending their life cycle during production. The e-commerce market provides economic opportunities for sellers and helps customers shop more frugally. As the sustainable shopping habits advocated by sellers become popular, this will promote the development of a green circular economy.

In the economically developed European market, as people's environmental awareness grows, new buying and selling methods such as resale will become more popular.
