Recruiters complained that it was difficult to recruit, and job seekers said it was difficult to find a job, just like the dating market. However, this year, a factor broke the balance of previous years. Operating wages may rise sharply, and many cross-border companies began to scramble for talent with high salaries.

One seller said that they have started to work one after another. The recruitment information in WeChat Moments makes me feel that everyone is competing for talents. I have already subscribed to VIP on major recruitment websites and wait for the system to match and update talent resumes for me every day. Another seller felt the same way: "Now it's crazy to compete for talents. WeChat Moments are full of recruitment advertisements. Tomorrow, Boss and Zhaopin will open!" At Zhaopin Shenzhen Station, many cross-border e-commerce operation positions have been labeled "urgent", which shows the degree of demand for operations.

 

 

How can we attract outstanding talents to apply for the positions when everyone is competing for them? Recruiting companies are showing off their "muscles" and displaying benefits:

 

——"We are looking for 1-2 Amazon operations specialists or supervisors with high salary. The basic salary is 8,000-12,000, plus commission and performance + year-end bonus! More than 2 years of experience, accommodation and cafeteria included, 7.5 hours a day excluding overtime, one day off;"

 

——"If there are Amazon operation partners in Shenzhen who want to return to Changsha to work, please contact me. I am located in Changsha Lugu, a 5A-level office building, with six insurances and one fund. It is not difficult to earn tens of thousands of yuan a month in Changsha. Commissions, year-end bonuses, and dividends are waiting for you."

 

——"Looking for Amazon operations, with certain operations experience, and has managed accounts with monthly sales of more than 50,000 dollars. The basic salary is 7k, and the commission gross profit is 5%-10%."

 

Supervisors, operations specialists, and operations assistants are the positions with high recruitment demand. For companies with good treatment, operators are eager to ask for specific requirements, and the company also hopes to dig up a few pillars during this peak recruitment season, but information matching is not easy. Because of the gender distribution characteristics of practitioners, one seller is very troubled: there are so many girls in the cross-border e-commerce industry that it is impossible to recruit male employees; another seller also lamented that recruiting a suitable operator is more difficult than finding a girlfriend.

 

But whether you are still employed or choosing a new job, careful operators will find that this year's salary level has increased significantly compared with previous years. Why is this?

 

Foreign trade enters cross-border business, high base salary attracts talents and pushes up salary level

 

Mr. Qin, a senior seller, believes that the recent phenomenon of high salaries for cross-border e-commerce operators is mainly due to traditional factories /foreign trade companies breaking the balance and offering high "fixed" salaries to poach people. Assuming that a cross-border enterprise offers a base salary of 5K-6K, and a foreign trade enterprise offers a monthly salary of 10,000, many cross-border operators seeking "stability" will choose the latter.

 

In the past few years, cross-border e-commerce has grown rapidly, and many foreign trade companies are very eager to join. The companies that have responded quickly have added cross-border e-commerce retail businesses and are doing very well.

 

Take Hangzhou Giant Technology as an example. The company started as an OEM and entered the cross-border e-commerce market by entering Amazon in 2015. It has established several hand tool brands such as WORKPRO and EverBrite on Amazon North America. From January to May last year, Giant Technology's cross-border e-commerce sales on Amazon increased by 71% year-on-year. The sales of the company's garden tools and woodworking tools on Amazon increased by more than 150%. Its online sales are 100% of its own brands, and its own brand sales account for one-third of the group's sales. Cross-border e-commerce has become a new business growth point for the company.

 

There are many successful cases of foreign trade transformation into cross-border retail, and more companies are tempted. Traditional factories are rushing to do e-commerce, and this rush to recruit people has pushed up the salary level of industry operations. One worker understands: "No wonder our salaries have increased a lot during this period." A seller also said: "Now, a person with only one year of experience and mediocre ability has to ask for a basic salary of 8,000 to 9,000 yuan. An employee of ours with a basic salary of 6,000 yuan can find a job with a basic salary of more than 10,000 yuan after leaving."

 

So what is the current salary level for operations? Experienced sellers believe that the base salary for fresh graduates starts at 5,000 yuan, and those with experience start at at least 8,000 yuan. In addition to the base salary, commission is the key. One operator said that he could get 120,000 yuan in commission per month during the peak season, and similar examples are not uncommon in the industry.

 

Most operators care most about salary when looking for a job

 

In the recruitment after the New Year, operations has become a hot topic. Many companies have recruitment plans, and some operations personnel have even received olive branches from multiple companies.

 

So, what factors do operators, who are in a hot market, care about most when looking for a job? Many people gave real answers.

 

 

Many operators believe that remuneration is the first priority, after all, no one doesn't want to make money.

 

The remuneration for cross-border e-commerce operations generally includes a base salary plus commission. Many people face a question when looking for a job: is a high base salary better, or is a high commission more attractive?

 

Many operations managers believe that the low base salary and high commissions claimed by some companies are somewhat inflated. Based on their experience, operations managers may work themselves to death only to find in the end that a high base salary is more attractive, after all, wages are put into the pocket and safe.

 

An operator said bluntly: "Who doesn't work for money? And the salary reputation of the cross-border e-commerce industry has been ruined by a few big rats."

 

According to feedback from some operations, many companies in the cross-border e-commerce industry currently have unreasonable salary systems, low base salaries, and are unattractive (for this view of operations, bosses can refer to it). For some operations, the high commissions proposed by companies have become a mirage.

 

However, there are some different opinions. Some operators believe that the issue of basic salary and commission should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. For e-commerce operators in Shenzhen, taking a basic salary of 10,000 as an example, if you are doing vertical independent sites or platform boutiques, this basic salary is not high, but if you are doing distribution, a basic salary of 10,000 is also good.

 

In addition to remuneration, there are a small number of people who believe that other aspects should also be taken into consideration. The following points are also factors worth considering: first, product category, the company's product selection must be ahead of market demand and constantly replaced ; second, look at the company and the boss's structure, with the goal of sustainable development of the enterprise; third, salary can be calculated based on the partner's technical shares plus commission, which is a respect for capable talents.

 

In this wave of recruitment peak season after the New Year, the value of experienced operations personnel has risen sharply. A logistics practitioner said, "If I switch to operations now, do you think I still have a chance?" Other positions in the same industry are also clamoring to work in operations.

 

However, is there no certain threshold for recruitment in operations? Not really. At present, more than half of the operations staff in the industry have a bachelor's degree or above. Maybe in the past few years, the threshold for operations was lower, but in the past two years, the threshold for education in industry operations has gradually increased, and it is no longer an industry that anyone can enter.

 

In some recruitment requirements for operations, the editor found that many companies now propose: 1. College degree or above, English level 4 or above; 2. More than half a year of operation experience, understanding of Amazon or other platform policies, rules and background related operations; 3. Strong execution, strong sense of responsibility, good adaptability and stress resistance and other requirements.

 

These requirements of enterprises are a preliminary screening of operation talents. The ability of operation itself is the best weapon in the later stage, but strong operation always deserves better treatment. In the peak recruitment season in March, I hope that more cross-border e-commerce operators can find high-paying jobs and more companies can recruit excellent talents.
