Development History
Airside was founded in 2009 with a mission to make identity verification and sharing faster and easier, based on a foundation of privacy, security, and real data.
- In 2010, the Airside Express app was launched for multi-airline check-in, aggregating mobile boarding passes from any airline on a single app;
- In 2011, B4YourBoard app was launched as the first airport food delivery app in partnership with HMSHost;
In 2013, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, ACI-NA and Airside partnered to develop a mobile solution to streamline the travel inspection process and reduce overall immigration wait times at U.S. entry points;
-In 2014, Mobile Passport was launched at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, becoming the first app to be authorized by U.S. Customs;
-In 2015, Mobile Passport began to roll out to most major U.S. airports and cruise ports;
-In 2017, Airside completed its Series A financing to expand Mobile Passport and develop new products;
-In 2018, Apple selected Mobile Passport as the "App of the Day";
- In 2019, Airside processed 12 million digital identity experiences, handling up to 40,000 transactions per day and saving 2 million hours; AirsideX platform was launched to provide relying parties with identity management of their customers’ verified digital documents;
-In 2020, Bain Capital Ventures led Airside’s Series B investment to accelerate the development of its digital identity network; the Airside app was launched, enabling people to securely share their provenance-verified driver’s licenses and passports with organizations as a fast, secure and contactless solution for everyday tasks; Amena Ali was appointed CEO of Airside, working with co-founders to lead “the team to the next level to deliver digital identity solutions built on trust, empowerment and confidence”;
