Tumblr (Chinese name: Tumblr) was founded in 2007 and is currently the world's largest microblogging website. Tumblr is a new media form between traditional blogs and microblogs. It focuses on expression, social interaction, and personalized settings, making it one of the most popular social networking sites among young people. Tumblr contains stories, pictures, GIF animations, TV series, links, witticisms, jokes, jokes, Spotify tracks, MP3s, videos, fashion, art, and in-depth content.

About Tumblr

Tumblr is a type of microblogging, and its founder is David Karp.

·Tumblr follows the traditional blog format and turns it into a stream-of-consciousness narrative. The log is short and concise, and the trigger point is very random - it can be a photo, a video, a quote, a link or even a flash of thought. Although Tumblr is not developed based on Twitter (it is based on "Tumblelogs"), the success of Twitter has provided a way for the development of more microblogging applications. Tumblr is actually a service between Twitter and traditional full-featured blogs. Before using Tumblr, you need to register an account on the official website to open your own Weibo. Tumblr not only supports posting Weibo on the site, but also can be synchronized to Facebook and Twitter.

·The word "Tumblr" is derived from the transliteration of Tumblr. In mainland China, netizens sometimes jokingly call it "Tang Bu Re". The Chinese name "Tumblr" not only has the same pronunciation as the English pronunciation of Tumblr, but also has a richer meaning. In the word "Tumblr", the word "Tang" is a phonetic word. Although it has the original meaning of food, it symbolizes beautiful things here; the word "Bo" not only has a profound meaning, but also refers to blogs and social networks; the word "Le" means happiness.

2. Domain name binding: One of Tumblr’s highlights is that it can bind domain names, allowing users to publish articles under their own domain names.

3. User joining: 90% of new users join the site because of Tumblr blog posts, and 85% of these users will still post blogs a week later. The continued success of the service may be related to its initial user acquisition method. 90% of new registered users join because of Tumblr blog posts.

4. Revenue model: The content displayed in the main content area is quite sacred. It is the content selected by users and willing to pay for. There will be no brand advertising content mixed in the content. This is different from Twitter and Facebook. Adult content prohibited events

1. Some countries have blocked access to Tumblr due to its pornographic content, such as China, Indonesia, etc. In the beginning, Tumblr was blocked in the country because it did not respond to the Indonesian government's request to remove pornographic content.

2. The trigger for Tumblr to ban adult content was the removal of Tumblr from the App Store in late November 2018 due to the presence of child pornography on the platform. Tumblr explained that some of the content "slipped through the net" due to an imperfect filtering mechanism.

3. Tumblr announced that it will ban adult content from December 17, 2018: "Images, videos or GIFs showing real human genitals or female nipples" and "content that is so realistic that it could be mistaken for real humans" are all considered adult content by Tumblr. However, nudity in works of art, education, news or political content, such as the statue of David or naked antibodies, can still be posted normally. The original adult content will be visible only to the publisher after December 17, and the publisher can file an appeal after receiving the notification. New adult content will also be prohibited from being uploaded. After the new policy is implemented, the "safe mode" function that was originally designed to prevent users from being exposed to adult content will no longer exist.

Blocked events

On September 5, 2013, Tumblr was blocked in China, and users could only connect to it unstably from late at night to early morning local time in China.

On May 25, 2016, because the links of the obscene video leaked from Shanghai Lujiazui all pointed to Tumblr, it was blocked again in China.

In February 2016, the Indonesian government temporarily blocked Tumblr in the country because the site hosted pornographic pages. The government quickly reversed its decision to block the site and said it had asked Tumblr to censor its pornographic content.
