It is understood that Amazon is currently testing an AI tool that may be able to automatically write product listings and other related information for sellers.
This marks another major step in integrating large-scale language models into the e-commerce space, and the tool is expected to revolutionize the way merchants create and optimize product descriptions. People familiar with the matter revealed that Amazon’s new AI tool is very powerful and can automatically write multiple key information including product names, product descriptions and keywords.
When using it, sellers only need to enter some keywords of their products, and the AI tool will automatically generate all the information required for the listing for this product.
According to the insider, only a very small number of sellers are currently testing this feature internally.
An Amazon spokesperson confirmed that they are indeed testing AI solutions for sellers to help them create product listings that will appeal to consumers.
With the vast amounts of data Amazon has on sellers and consumers, it should be able to develop a generative AI tool and craft product descriptions based on what consumers want.
However, although Amazon promises that this tool can effectively reduce the sellers' copywriting work, it still cannot completely replace manual review and editing.
Amazon says sellers must accurately describe their products, avoid creating duplicate pages for existing products, and adhere to specific variation and listing style guidelines, including character limits for product titles.
Additionally, the rules strictly regulate content in titles, descriptions, bullet points or images to ensure they are free of inappropriate content, personal contact information, promotional material or time-sensitive information.
By enforcing these policies, Amazon aims to ensure a clear and consistent consumer shopping experience while controlling AI-generated product descriptions to ensure the accuracy and completeness of product listings.
In fact, Amazon is not the first company to provide AI tools to sellers.
It is understood that Shopify has previously launched an AI-powered product description tool and an AI assistant for automating small tasks, both of which have received praise from many sellers.
From the seller's perspective, this new feature can greatly improve the seller's work efficiency, allowing the seller to focus more on other operations. However, for workers, if this tool is really so powerful, perhaps a group of basic operations positions will face the risk of unemployment. Amazon operations AI Tools |
