The latest data of Korean shopping apps is out, and Coupang continues to top the Korean e-commerce list!

Despite the epidemic, it has to be said that the epidemic has also caused the scale of South Korea's e-commerce market to expand rapidly, and South Korea's major e-commerce platforms have also made a big leap and development.

 

Wise App released a set of latest data after conducting a sample survey of Korean Android smartphone users from February 1 to February 28, 2021. The data shows the details and trends of shopping apps in South Korea in February 2021.

 

Data shows that the top eight shopping apps in South Korea in terms of users in February were: Coupang , 11th Street , Gmarket , We Make Price , TMON , Ohou , Auction.Kr , and GS SHOP .



Among them, Coupang has 17.3 million users, 11th Street has 6.17 million users, Gmarket has 4.95 million users, and We Make Price has 3.43 million users.

 

In February, out of a total of 27.48 million shopping apps were installed, 21.2 million of them were actually used, accounting for 77.2%. Among them, Coupang had the highest user share , accounting for 39.3%, followed by 11th Street (14%) and Gmarket ( 11.2 ).

 

Among shopping apps, Coupang has the highest usage time , accounting for 54.4%. Gmarket surpassed 11th Street (8.1%) with a usage time of 11.7%, followed by Weimeipu (6.4%). T MON and Auction.Kr are not far behind, accounting for 5.9% and 5.7% respectively .

 

 

In terms of the gender of APP users, Coupang has 43.1% males and 56.9% females. 11th Street has 45.1% males and 54.9% females. Gmarket has 44.8% males and 55.2% females. Weimeipu has 33.0% males and 67.0% females. It is obvious that Weimeipu is the most popular among women.

 

In addition, data shows that the largest number of users of major shopping apps are all over 40 years old. Among them, Gmarket has the largest proportion of users aged 40, accounting for 39.3%. Coupang's proportion of users aged 40 is less than 30%, only 29.4%, but its proportion of users aged 50 is the largest, accounting for 29.1%.

 


As one of the world’s top e-commerce markets, South Korea is uniquely receptive to e-commerce companies. As one of the most densely populated countries in the world , 80% of South Koreans live in cities , with high rates of internet and mobile device usage, and 95% owning smartphones (much higher than the 80% in the United States).

 

Therefore, the Korean market is worth looking forward to for sellers. And with the stimulation of Coupang's listing in the United States, it is expected that the Korean market will usher in a new round of explosion in 2021!
