76% of Americans plan to buy Father's Day gifts

Father's Day will be on June 19th. According to a survey by the National Retail Federation (NRF) , 76% of American adults are expected to celebrate Father's Day this year. For sellers, major festivals are a good time to increase orders, and e-commerce platforms will also hold corresponding promotional discounts.

However, due to the pessimistic global economic situation this year, many e-commerce platform sellers have said that the volume of product orders has almost stagnated. Can the arrival of Father's Day stimulate the growth of product sales?

NRF said that due to inflation , U.S. consumer spending on Father's Day this year is expected to be the same or slightly lower than in 2021, reaching $20 billion this year compared to last year's record $ 20.1 billion . About 64% of consumers reported that the prices of many Father's Day gifts have increased this year .

NRF CEO Matthew Shay said that despite growing concerns about inflation, American consumers ' Father's Day gift budgets remain roughly the same as last year. However, due to the increase in gift prices, consumer demand for Father's Day this year will also change.

According to the survey, American consumers plan to spend an average of $171.79 on gifts on Father's Day , slightly lower than last year 's $174.10 . For American consumers, the most important factors affecting Father's Day purchases are "looking for a unique or different gift" (44%) and "looking for a gift that creates a special memory" (37%).

Among all other gift categories, clothing ( 50%) and gift cards (46%) are on the top of most consumers’ Father’s Day shopping lists, with some also considering sporting goods and razor sets .

At the same time, 30% of American consumers said that they were troubled by the problem of choosing Father’s Day gifts and planned to look for gift inspiration from the promotional discount pages of offline retailers and e-commerce platforms .

Regarding purchasing channels, the surveyed American consumers will compare prices from online and offline channels. 40% of consumers plan to buy Father's Day gifts online , while 34% of consumers consider choosing in department stores, and 22% of consumers consider shopping in specialty stores, such as greeting card or gift shops, electronics stores and discount stores.

There are still 20 days until Father's Day . Sellers should seize this last golden time, pay attention to hot-selling gifts, make preparations for product selection and promotion, and wait for the good news of explosive sales.
