According to the latest report released by eMarketer, the global e-commerce market will continue to maintain rapid growth in the next four years, among which the US mobile e-commerce market will double.

According to eMarketer data, global online retail sales achieved rapid growth in 2020, with e-commerce sales in the 32 markets it tracks all achieving rapid growth, with Argentina's growth rate reaching triple digits, and the rest of the markets achieving double-digit growth rates.

eMarketer said that online retail sales will continue to grow at a double-digit rate from now until 2023. And the share of online retail in total global retail sales will continue to increase. eMarketer predicts that by 2023, global online retail sales will reach 6.169 trillion U.S. dollars, accounting for 22.3% of total retail sales, significantly higher than 3.351 trillion U.S. dollars and 13.8% in 2019.
"We expect e-commerce to remain strong throughout 2021 as the pandemic persists in many parts of the world and more consumers become accustomed to shopping online," eMarketer said in the report.
In 2021, the world's five largest e-commerce markets were China (52.1%), the United States (19%), the United Kingdom (4.8%), Japan (3%) and South Korea (2.5%).
After 2023, global e-commerce sales will continue to rise, reaching $7.385 trillion in 2025, accounting for 24.5% of all retail sales.
US mobile e-commerce market to double in four years
The United States is the world's second largest e-commerce market after China. According to eMarketer, U.S. e-commerce sales are expected to continue to maintain double-digit growth, increasing by 17.9% in 2021 to $933.3 billion. U.S. e-commerce sales are expected to exceed $1 trillion in 2022, and will account for more than 20% of total retail sales by 2024, with e-commerce sales reaching nearly $1.5 trillion.

eMarketer said that although the epidemic has accelerated the development of e-commerce, its rapid growth will not end with the end of the epidemic. In addition, people are more willing to try mobile e-commerce.
