Nowadays, more and more consumers prefer to shop online , and in the latest survey of Bizreel (2021) ( surveying more than 30,000 consumers worldwide aged 18 to 65) , these interesting shopping behavior trends were found.
1. 57% of consumers prefer to shop online , 31% prefer to shop in-store, and 12% say both methods are equally important to them.
2. 45% of consumers say they prefer to buy from e-commerce sites that have more recommendations .
3. More than half of consumers ( 51%) said the biggest drawback of online shopping is the inability to touch , feel and try products , followed by the lack of a physical shopping experience ( 24%), the possibility of damage to fragile items ( 11%), lack of interactivity (5%), scams and fraud issues (5%) and delivery delays (4%).
4. Consumers spend an average of 5 hours per week shopping online .
5. 92% of consumers say they shop online at least once a year , 67% of consumers shop online at least once a month, 25% of consumers say they shop online at least once a week, and 4% of consumers say they shop online every day.
6. Mobile phones are the preferred device for online shopping at 49% , followed by PCs at 43% and tablets at 8%.
7. 52% of consumers are willing to share their data in exchange for benefits such as rewards , faster service, and personalized offers .
8. 87% of consumers have shopped online .
9. The top factor for making a purchase on a website is price ( 89%) , followed by brand ( 57%), delivery method and return policy (49%), store reviews (47%), refund policy (44%), aging business (11%) and other business (3%).
10. 46% of consumers buy groceries online .
11. 91% of consumers expect to receive their items within 3 business days .
12. The most popular factor in shopping at a specific physical store is price (89%), followed by location (51%), quantity of inventory (41%), brand (40%), good warranty and return policy (28%), good loyalty program (21%), parking (18%) and store environment (12%).
13. 92% of consumers say they use Amazon for shopping .
14. 34% of consumers said buggy and complex websites were the most frustrating aspect of online shopping , followed by too many ads and pop-ups ( 29% ) , slow websites ( 28% ) and lack of product information ( 9% ) .
15. Only 27% of consumers say they will try to visit a website again after visiting it, while 73% of consumers say they will visit other websites .
16. 93% of mobile consumers say they prefer using mobile apps to shop online rather than using a mobile browser.
17. 55% of female consumers say they prefer online shopping , compared to 35% of male consumers .
18. The most important factor influencing online consumer loyalty is customer experience ( 43%) , followed by price ( 36%), brand (19%) and others (2%).
19. 30% of consumers said they will spend more on products and services in the next 12 months , while 51% said they will spend more on the same products and 19% said they will spend less.
20. 56% of consumers are spending more on purchasing products, while 44% are spending more on valuable experiences.
