German auction e-commerce Hood.de is growing rapidly and is poised to take over eBay's market share

In the Internet age , offline flea markets are outdated , and the shopping and auction industries are gradually turning to the Internet . According to data from the European Statistical Office ( Eurostat ) , in 2020 , 95 % of Germans used the Internet , and 84% of the 82.4 million German population had participated in online shopping before the epidemic.

Hood.de is a German online shopping and auction platform.   Since its operation in 2000, it has now become the No. 1 in the German auction e-commerce rankings, with more than 5 million bids per day and more than 12 million customers . It is one of the fastest growing e-commerce platforms in Germany .

Compared with other e-commerce platforms, Hood.de has its own advantages. The platform provides online shopping and auction services. Private sellers do not need to pay platform fees and commissions , and corporate sellers only need to pay a commission of 1%-6% of the sales price . When checking out, buyers can choose to buy immediately or negotiate the price with the seller online . It supports payment in installments or invoices .

Secondly, merchants do not have to face competition from low-price sellers , and support a series of listing enhancement services . According to feedback from platform users , the platform's listings are more easily displayed on Google Shopping and other search engine interfaces , and the platform even has its own Alexa skill .

In addition, Hood.de has a strong transportation network and multi-channel suppliers , making order processing simple and efficient.

Since its launch , Hood.de has been widely praised for its transparent and low prices, as well as excellent after-sales service, and is a strong competitor to eBay in the auction business in Germany.

However, compared with other large e-commerce platforms, Hood.de still has its own shortcomings. The platform's audience is relatively small and not as well-known as e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and eBay.

In order to keep up with the times, the platform has launched an APP that users can download for free from the iPhone App Store to quickly obtain information and complete transactions.

Ryan Hood, founder of German online auction platform Hood.de, said: "Hood.de is booming. Due to the high taxes on the eBay platform, eBay is becoming less and less attractive. Many sellers are looking for alternative platforms. In the future, more eBay sellers will join our big family."
