Five more cases of allergic reactions reported in Japan
It is reported that the Japanese Ministry of Health said on Monday that another five people in the country had allergic reactions after receiving the new crown vaccine, which can be fatal .
With these new cases, the number of confirmed cases of allergic reactions after coronavirus vaccination in Japan has risen to eight.
The newly diagnosed allergy cases are all women, aged between their 20s and 50s, who experienced symptoms such as rashes and sore throats , and their conditions improved after taking medication.
The Ministry of Health said that four of the five people had underlying diseases such as asthma or a history of allergies to other drugs.
According to the medical agency that reported the other cases , three women had allergic reactions related to the vaccination, while the causal relationship was unclear in one of the other two women and could not be evaluated in the other.
Tomohiro Morio, head of the Japanese Ministry of Health's vaccination adverse reaction team, said the frequency of such cases seemed high compared with other countries, adding that a careful examination was necessary, including whether adverse events could be identified as allergic reactions.
Nearly 1 million doses of vaccine arrive in Japan
Japan's vaccination program got a boost on Monday as nearly 1 million doses of vaccine arrived from Belgium.
Previously, vaccines produced by Pfizer have been delivered to Japan several times, and this time, it has been ensured that more than 1 million Japanese people can be fully vaccinated. So far, more than 46,000 frontline workers have received the first vaccination , and the next priority group is the elderly, who are scheduled to start vaccination next month.
Meanwhile, Tokyo and three neighboring prefectures will remain under a state of emergency for another two weeks , with the government requiring restaurants and bars to close early and asking people to avoid unnecessary outings.
The number of new cases last week was reported to be about 6% lower than the previous week , far below the 30% weekly reduction target set by officials.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato said : " It is very important to take measures to reduce the number of people dining out , and the government hopes for the public's active cooperation . "
