Hot-selling categories are being purged! A large number of listings are removed from the shelves, and sellers' net profits plummet by a hundred times

Amazon has rectified the toy category. This time, Amazon has taken a heavy hand. A large number of listings have been removed from the shelves, and the sales of related sellers have plummeted...

The toy category was "cleaned up" in large quantities , and 900 listings of sellers were removed

Recently, Amazon has started to check the compliance of toys again. A large number of toy and game listings have been removed from the shelves. This toy compliance issue has been erupting in large numbers since January, and now the problem is getting worse...

Sellers of toys on Amazon today feel like their products are being thrown to the dogs, as Amazon is removing listings in the toys and games category and displaying its classic error page, which features a picture of a dog and the message, “Oops, something went wrong on our end.”

Under Amazon's drastic rectification, many sellers are suffering.

One seller said that 900 listings had been removed from the shelves due to lack of description, intellectual property issues or compliance requirements. What made him most speechless was that all the toys that were removed from the shelves were produced by major toy brands.

Some sellers also stated that the CPC certificate was originally for toys for children aged 12 and under, but now even toys for children aged 13 and above have been removed from the shelves due to this issue. So, what does Amazon want?

The CPC certificate, or Children's Product Certificate, is applicable to all products that are primarily intended for children aged 12 and under. Amazon US requires that children's products (including toys and baby products) must provide a CPC certificate, otherwise they will not be sold.

Previously, there was a thread titled "More and more listings are being removed due to compliance issues" on the Amazon Seller Forum , which sparked a lot of discussion. There are now more than 750 comments, and the number of comments on this thread is still increasing. It is not difficult to see from the discussions of sellers that they find it difficult to understand Amazon's "shameful operation"↓↓

——"Because of Amazon's request for ASTM and CPC documents, our order volume has dropped drastically. In the past 10 years, we have never had a payday of less than $1,000 in two weeks. This payday we only made $10.22."

(It can be seen that because of this problem, the net profit dropped nearly a hundred times )

——"Looks like a class action lawsuit is brewing... Could this problem be caused intentionally by someone within Amazon, or perhaps an online Covid-21 virus?!"

——"If this happens to me again, I will no longer sell related items and I don't want to sell anything on Amazon. Amazon has always believed that my listings are not compliant. I have encountered such problems 20 times in the past five years..."

Regarding this large-scale removal of products, some sellers speculated that Amazon removed the products in order to crack down on piracy and unsafe counterfeits, but it did not take the actual situation into consideration and would rather kill the innocent than let them go, so it directly removed the listings in batches .

Even if you upload the audit documents according to Amazon's regulations, some sellers still encounter unexpected situations:

“I submitted the manufacturer’s information pictures according to Amazon’s review requirements, but it just didn’t pass.”

“I was asked to submit CPC and ASTM data for this category. After I submitted the data, it was rejected because of lack of information. After the rejection, the time exceeded the deadline for backend document request, and the listing was removed. I was about to collapse.”

The listing that was started with a lot of shit and urine is now inexplicably "dead". It has always been a hot-selling toy category, but now it faces many problems, which makes the seller very frustrated...

However, this is not the worst. Some sellers said that with the substantial increase in Amazon product compliance requirements,

More will be removed soon !

Toys are full of traps, this popular TikTok product infringes copyright

According to data from NPD market research, U.S. toy retail sales increased to $25.1 billion in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 16%, of which online toy sales increased by 75% year-on-year. In addition, Euromonitor predicts that global toy sales will reach $105 billion in 2021.

Seeing this data, I have to sigh that this category is “really good”!

The market of hundreds of billions of dollars is just around the corner, and many sellers want to enter the market to share a piece of the pie. But here I want to remind you: this category is hot, and many products have related patents and trademarks. Sellers should not follow the trend when seeing a product is hot, unless they have official authorization , otherwise it is very easy to infringe.

A typical example is the TeeTurtle reversible octopus plush toy that became popular on TikTok in 2020 .

At that time, some users shared funny videos on TikTok of themselves using it to communicate emotions with their partners and friends. Soon, this product became the best-selling item in Amazon's toys and games category. Like many viral TikTok products, it was a very popular item and the stock could only last for a few days at most.

Nearly 12,000 Amazon shoppers have given the toy a five-star rating, and that number is growing.

"I originally bought this because it was so cute and I wanted it to know if I was in a good mood without telling my boyfriend," one buyer commented. "It's a fantastic emotional tool for my four-year-old daughter. She sees how I use it to show my emotions and now 'Jelly' is her favorite stuffed animal. She uses it when she needs to be alone, when she needs a break, or when she's angry. It's soft, cuddly, and durable."

This product is a sure-fire hit. But when sellers encounter similar products, they should not rush to prepare and put them on the shelves. Instead, they should first think about this sentence: When something is out of the ordinary, there must be something wrong.

Take this popular product as an example. The brand TeeTurtle registered the appearance patent and invention patent as early as 2019. Therefore, as long as the seller sells similar flip-over plush toys, there will be infringement risks, even if the product appearance is completely different.

Safety issues also need to be noted. This product has been requested to be recalled

In addition to infringement issues, the safety of toys is also a particular concern, especially children's toys.

Recently, a multifunctional radio children's toy "Aranee Music Radio" sold on Amazon was recalled by the U.S. Office for Product Safety and Standards.

It is reported that the product model is AE014 and the ASIN is B07V9TBB1Z.

The product is a blue, red and yellow plastic toy radio with a panda image on the screen and colorful buttons.

The product comes with a white cord to which is attached a plastic orange toy microphone. It is supplied in a blue and white cardboard package and is advertised as suitable for ages six months and up.

The Office of Product Safety and Standards said in a statement: "The product contains a cord that is longer than permitted by the relevant standards and presents a serious risk of strangulation.

“The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

"The product has been removed from sale in the online marketplace. The authorities are requesting the end-user to recall the product."
