About the Barbados Financial Services Commission

Barbados Financial Services Commission (FSC)

The Financial Services Commission (FSC) is an integrated regulator established on 1 April 2011 by the Financial Services Commission Act (2010). We are responsible for the supervision and regulation of non-bank financial institutions in Barbados, in particular those entities licensed or registered under the following Acts of Parliament.


Functions of the Barbados Financial Services Commission

  • administering certain regulations, including the licensing or registration of financial institutions;

  • Supervise and regulate the operations of financial institutions;

  • Setting standards for strengthening institutions, controlling and managing risks in the financial services sector, and protecting consumers and creditors of financial institutions;

  • Promote stability, public awareness and public confidence in the operations of financial institutions.
