Seller: The order volume fluctuates like a roller coaster, and it’s chilling.
In May, sellers’ orders dropped significantly, with the worst performance on the Amazon site. In June, orders continued to drop, and on Father’s Day, some sellers’ orders hit their lowest point. This sluggish situation continued until Independence Day in July, when sellers’ sales hit a new low again, and industry insiders expect that orders will drop even faster in the week before Members’ Day.
There are no orders at all, and a large number of sellers are saying that they are running out of people.
On July 4, the U.S. Independence Day holiday arrived, and a group of sellers reached their lowest sales point, with some sellers even receiving zero orders.
Many people reported that even though the order volume declined at the end of June, there were still orders to be placed. In July, the order volume continued to decline, reaching its lowest value on July 4. For example, the order volume was OK yesterday, but it was cut in half today; there were still a few orders last month, but today, after clicking the full button, there were 0 orders. Some sellers said they couldn't survive because the order volume was too scary, and there were still many days before Prime Day. There are many similar feedback↓
The ranking has risen, but the sales volume has not changed; There are no orders today, and this is definitely the Independence Day fault; It has fallen by half; After looking at the order volume, I decided to go back to sleep; When I opened the order, people were almost gone; ACOS is as high as 80%, so naturally there are no more orders; Seeing that Barley said this, I felt relieved; …
It’s not just the poor orders, the overall volatility is also a key point of feedback from most sellers.
"The number of orders dropped from about 15 in the previous two days to 1, and the conversion rate dropped from 35% to 0," said one seller, who had a legitimate reason to comfort himself. It is reported that July 4 is the Independence Day in the United States, and many sellers attributed the sales fluctuations to this. More than one seller joked: "The number of orders is very poor, and this time the Independence Day is to blame."
Some sellers who spent a lot of money on advertising in June but had low sales finally saw their sales increase for two days in July, but their sales fell again on Independence Day. Some sellers advised their peers to turn off their ads in the past few days to avoid ACOS explosion, but their sales still fell sharply.
In this regard, some sellers feel the same way, saying that the ACOS of ads in July reached 106.09%, and the number of orders was directly cut in half, and this situation has lasted for 5 days. And because the Independence Day is followed by the weekend, the sluggish order situation of sellers continues.
Many sellers said they were used to the decline in sales, and even said that the number of orders would decline faster in the week before Prime Day. This has become the norm every year, and the blame should be put on Prime Day. However, a small number of sellers said that the number of orders increased slightly, which should be due to the difference in the categories they are focusing on.
Before Prime Day, the liquidation situation is still severe
As Prime Day approaches, the order volumes of most sellers are sluggish. On the other hand, competing platforms including Walmart and TikTok have started and extended their long-term promotional campaigns in advance to grab Amazon's traffic, so that many sellers do not have high expectations for this year's big promotion.
However, a report shows that consumers' enthusiasm for Prime Day shopping is increasing this year. Skai data shows that more than two-thirds of American consumers said they plan to shop on Prime Day this year.
To this end, retailers including Best Buy, Target and Walmart have launched summer promotions in order to get a share of the big promotion. In terms of purchase preferences, clothing and footwear are still the top purchases for European and American consumers, followed by personal care, body care and cosmetics. In addition, influenced by the back-to-school season, many parents will also buy back-to-school supplies on Prime Day.
However, as the big sale approaches, the situation of warehouse overflow has not improved, and most warehouses are still in a state of overflow.
The frequency of rejection at Amazon warehouses such as LGB8, LAS1, LAX9, GYR2, GYE3, and OAK3 is still very high, with many cancellations and postponements of contracts, and the waiting time for unloading is constantly extended; SBD2 has a high rate of unreasonable rejection due to lack of staff; SBD1 and ONT8 are currently scheduled until mid-July; VGT2 is scheduled until late July.
Warehouses such as SMF3 and SCK4 need to make appointments three weeks in advance, and some warehouses have once again shown signs of being overwhelmed. According to freight forwarders, the logistics time of warehouses in the western United States will fluctuate by about 4-6 days; the time of warehouses in the eastern and central United States will fluctuate by about 4-15 days due to warehouse overwhelm. Warehouse overwhelm in Canadian warehouses YOW1 and YGK will cause the transit time of goods to exceed 7 days.
As Amazon warehouses burst, UPS also experienced delivery delays, with the general feedback being "there is no estimated delivery time at the moment." It is reported that due to Amazon warehouse burst, Amazon goods delivered by UPS could not be warehoused in time and had to be piled up in its own warehouses. Although there has been no news of warehouse bursts, delivery delays are inevitable.
In addition, the situation at the US ports is not optimistic. The APM strike has caused traffic congestion, making it difficult to pick up containers and wasting time. Foreign media reported that drivers have to wait in line for a long time. Once the appointment time is exceeded, the port will refuse drivers to enter to pick up the containers, resulting in the inability to pick up the containers on schedule and delays in picking up the containers.
After Prime Day, can sellers finally take a break and breathe? But that’s not the case, and a new round of rectification is about to come.
Another rectification! USPS is investigating the account leakage again
As a link closely related to cross-border sellers, logistics has always been a headache for sellers. The occasional cost increase and sudden collapse are very frustrating. Recently, news about logistics companies’ sudden collapse has been coming one after another, all of which stems from the chaos in logistics.
"Water leakage accounts" are one of the most active chaos in recent times. Generally, bad freight forwarders attract customers by soliciting goods at low prices and take advantage of loopholes in international express companies to create false waybills. Last year, after a case of false waybills worth up to 420 million yuan was exposed, logistics companies such as USPS began to vigorously investigate water leakage accounts, but it has become a stubborn disease and cannot be stopped despite repeated bans.
Recently, USPS released an announcement on its official website, stating that starting from August 1, it will once again launch a large-scale cleanup of accounts that have been leaking mail, which is expected to have an impact on a number of cross-border sellers and logistics personnel. At that time, USPS will verify payment documents in real time. When the USPS facility scans the documents for the first time, packages that are not included in the list will be intercepted and processed, and will not re-enter the mail flow, and the sender will not receive compensation.
Once the strict inspection begins, there is a possibility of being found out. At the very least, the goods will be detained and the freight will be paid. At the worst, the account will be blocked. It will also bring a series of problems, such as product out of stock, extended shelf time, etc. Here, the editor reminds all sellers to be more cautious when choosing logistics companies.
